Pretty in Pink Exhibition, November 2024

Fluorescent Pink is a series of two posters I designed for the Pretty in Pink exhibition curated by the print shop and cultural space Macart. Pink is not a color I usually use, as I tend to gravitate toward muted earth tones. This project pushed me out of my comfort zone, encouraging me to find beauty in the unfamiliar.
With limited time, I approached the posters as artworks, letting intuition guide me. One poster is typographic, with oversized letters and fluorescent pink creating a sense of movement, while gold shadows subvert expectations by adding depth. The other is illustrative, using a tall format and pink-themed objects outlined in yellow, against a black background for visual tension and harmony.
The biggest challenge was overcoming impostor syndrome when comparing my work to others in the exhibition. However, seeing my posters displayed in such a creative space made me proud and motivated to seek out more opportunities to showcase my designs. This exhibition marked my first time presenting work outside of university, an experience that inspired me to take a more proactive approach to sharing my work.
